Today's Tangle

Today's Tangle

I spend a lot of time crocheting, both for myself and others. Sometimes, though, I think I spend more time untangling yarn than I do actually working up projects. That's the problem with yarn; sometimes, it seems like it gets itself all ratted up and then it has to be untangled before it can be useful.

Here's what I've learned, though. Sometimes, we have to deal with what is before we can begin to create what will be. The strands of what has been are often gnarled and unwieldly.

But they are not unusable! This is the real joy of it; just because something is tangled up and looks a mess, doesn't mean that it's not valuable, useful, and capable of creating something beautiful and wonderful.

Don't be discouraged if you're feeling a little "tangled up" right now. There is not less value just because some effort must be made to set things "right." The potential is still endless.

There is always a lesson. As you trace back the strands and threads, unknotting and untangling, you may find yourself trailing patterns or habits that need changing or cycles that need breaking. Even in this, there is opportunity. All this "mess" needs is a pair of loving hands to untangle the knots and wind it into something new.

And those hands can be your own.

Of course it requires effort and diligence; most things worth having do. But your life is worth the effort. There is value here, and fret not, you little knotty mess.

Today's tangle is just tomorrow's finished product, so don't give up on it yet.
